The Dark Half & The Light Half of the Year

Please note that this is a working page, as I go through the wheel I will be adding more information in. A lot of my thoughts and experiences will be included into this page- everyone is unique and different, take the below as a guide but also write down your own experiences and what the Dark Half and the Light Half means to you.

Blessed Be,

Silver Swan.

Dark Half of the Year

This starts from Samhain and ends just before Ostara. It is a time for inward reflection. A good time to learn something new, or read new books for knowledge. A good time for meditation and setting goals.

Set up a routine that you can follow in order to have time for inward reflection- this may be a day that you can dedicate to your Path, and learn, craft or meditate. It may be several nights during the week in which you can meditate, or it could be setting aside a couple of hours to take a walk in nature (wrap up warm!) to reflect on the season as it changes. I like to have a less practical approach to the Dark Half of the Year. I’m not growing herbs, I’m not crafting anything new- instead I’m meditating, working on my divination skills, doing more behind the scenes work on my blog, etc. I also tend to burn candles and incense more, mainly because it’s cold, but with the darker nights rolling in a lot quicker, I find it the perfect opportunity to sit in a dark room with candles lit and meditate.

I work with Persephone during the Dark Half of the Year. I work with Her as a Dark Maiden and her link to the Underworld.

Light Half of the Year

This starts from Ostara and end just before Samhain. it is a time for outward reflection. A good time to be outside enjoying the warmer weather. A good time for practicing what you have read in books and seeing goals through. I focus on advancing my knowledge in herbology during this time. This is when I like to be out and about! I’ll be planting herbs in the ground as soon as it is warm enough, drying the items I’m wanting to use to craft, my altar should perhaps be outside in nature, a collection of things that represent the elements, the God and Goddess, giving me somewhere to practice my spirituality without being cooped up inside.

This is the perfect time to meet up with loved ones, when the weather is warmer and have BBQ’s or Picnics.

I work with Aphrodite during the Light Half of the Year, connecting with my Inner Goddess and working on self – healing and accepting myself for who I am.

My partner and I absolutely love your blog and find a lot of your post’s to be exactly I’m looking for.
Would you offer guest writers to write content for yourself?

I wouldn’t mind writing a post or elaborating on a lot of
the subjects you write related to here. Again, awesome website!
